Toyota and Mazda are to temporally shutdown their factories in Japan

COVID-19 as known as coronavirus is spreading its effect into motor vehicle industries as well. 

 

Due to the declining demand for brand new vehicles caused by COVID-19,Toyota and Mazda have announced to decrease their manufacturing in Japan temporally.

 

Toyota Motor Corporation will suspend their manufacturing for 2-9 working days on the total of 7 manufacturing lines from 5factories including HINO motors which is affiliated with Toyota Motor Corporation. 

Mazda hasalso announced that they will either shutdown or shorten their operational hours in 2 of their factories in Japan from March 28th to April 30th. 

 

 

Toyota Takaoka factory has already resumed their operation after 3 days of suspension caused by the confirmation of 2 cases among their workers. Toyota has already stopped the operation of 5 factories in Europe too, including France, the UK, Poland, Czech Republic and Turkey from March 18th 2020 as well as factories in Canada, Mexico, Philippines, Malaysia and India.

 

 

Mazda has also announced production adjustment inside and outside of Japan. 2 of their factories in West Japan will be shut down for 13 days followed by 8 days of limited operations. Regarding to their overseas factories, 2 factories in both Mexico and Thailand will be suspended for about 10 days starting the end of March.

 

2020 has been a very challenging start but hope the situation in all over the world will be better soonest.
